New 2D sonic – Project Needglemouse
It finally happened! After years and years of sub-par Sonic games, to say the least, SEGA came to their senses and announced a new 2D Sonic. Details are still very few, and even the teaser doesn’t show that much. What we know at the moment is that it is in High Definiton, not a remake, but a whole new game (hence the “build from ground up”) and has a 2010 release date.
Ken Ballough, SEGA’s associate brand manager:
GS: Why did Sega decide to bring Sonic back to 2D? Did the success of Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure play a part?
KB: Old-school Sonic fans have long asked to see Sonic return to a more 2D style of gameplay. Many liked the daytime stages in Unleashed but wanted to see a game that plays purely similar to the early games of the Genesis. Project Needlemouse is that critical first step that brings Sonic back to his 2D roots.
By the way, Ken keeps mentioning “HD”, does that mean no Wii love?

Indie RPG, Flare, Needs Your Help (via Destructoid)

Imagine a RPG with no teenage hero, no spoiled princess, no ancient prophecy and certainly no “amnesia factor”. The main character, Sara Winter, is a “Solar magic” researcher trying to stop a solar flare that will destroy an entire continent. That’s Flare in a nutshell, an indie title developed for Xbox Live and PC by 3 people: Jordan Roher, developer; Lynn Hogan, artist and Vasca Matar, musician.
Now Jordan is turning to the community for some help, so if you happen to have programing, voice acting or art skills, get off your ass and be part of this very ambitious project.
There is going to be a demo available to everyone on October 1st, but, as the developer mentions, it is a very “pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha” version.

Modern Warfare 2 Peripherals In Picture Form
Remember a couple of weeks ago when I reported that Mad Catz was producing a whole bunch of peripherals for Modern Warfare 2? Well, now we have pictures!

The Throat Communicator is certainly one of the most unique of the bunch.
